Union draft pick looks to hit the ground running
The Philadelphia Union needed a viable option this upcoming season along the back line. For the second straight year, the Reading United’s partnership proved useful, as the Union selected Raymon Gaddis with the 35th overall pick in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft. “Well, the draft was the day before my birthday – it was a tremendous birthday present for me,” said Gaddis. “It’s a dream come true, actually.”
Rovers Duo Eyed by FK Velez
Downey, Smith offered contracts in Bosnia-Herzegovina
The River City Rovers are pleased to announce that two players from the club have been offered contracts with FK Velez Mostar, a Bosnian–Herzegovinian-based soccer club. Dustin Downey, a midfielder from Owenton, Ky. and Ryan Smith, a midfielder and forward from Louisville, traveled to Bosnia in December at the request of Velez to complete the club’s tryout process.
USL Partners with Uni-Sport
Uni-Sport to be official patch and heat transfer supplier
United Soccer Leagues has entered into an agreement with California-based Uni-Sport to serve as the official patch and heat transfer supplier for USL and its system of North American elite-level soccer leagues. As part of the newly-formed partnership, Uni-Sport and USL launched official numbering and lettering for USL teams. Designed with the intention of strengthening the USL brand across all leagues, the numbering and lettering is initially available in white and black. All USL teams and organizations will receive a special discounted rate on USL products from Uni-Sport per the new partnership.
Azul Announce Four More Players
All have ties to Central Connecticut State
CFC Azul are proud to announce commitments from one former and three current Central Connecticut State University players for the 2012 season. Bryan Zobre is a graduate of CCSU and most recently played for the Western Mass Pioneers. Mamoudou Dioubate, Thomas Obasi and Jesse Menzies are all current CCSU players. "We have commitments from three current Central Connecticut players and one former standout," Azul head coach David Kelly said.

The Southern West Virginia King’s Warriors, new members of the United Soccer League’s Premier Development League, are pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Reitnour as the team’s Head Coach and Technical Director. Reitnour is currently the Head High School Soccer Coach at Wesleyan Christian Academy in High Point, N.C. During his nine-year coaching career at Wesleyan, the Trojans have captured five Piedmont Athletic Conference of Independent Schools Conference Titles, enjoyed four State Finals appearances, and won two PACIS State Championships.
