Tucson Grabs Victory In Shootout

FC Tucson had done everything it could to beat San Antonio in the second round of the U.S. Open Cup. But as the players waited for San Antonio’s Kevin Harmes to take their final penalty kick, all the club could do was rely on their opposition to find out their fate. Harmes sent his penalty kick into the night sky and FC Tucson moved on to the third round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup after a 2-2 draw in regulation and a 4-3 win in penalty kicks.

United Advance Past City Islanders

Reading United created a little bit of Cup magic on Tuesday night. On warm and humid late evening, United earned a historic 1-0 win over USL PRO’s Harrisburg City Islanders in front of their faithful fans. The win helped Reading maintain its perfect start to the 2013 season and also helped them book a place in the third round of the 100th U.S. Open Cup, where they will face Major League Soccer powerhouse, the New York Red Bulls.

Nor'easters Down Riverhounds

The Ocean City Nor’easters had one of the most memorable evenings in their history as they defeated USL PRO’s Pittsburgh Riverhounds 1-0 in the second round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Tuesday night. The win for the Nor’easters sets up a contest with the Philadelphia Union at PPL Park next Tuesday night.

Miller Called Up To U.S. U-20s

Portland Timbers U-23s defender/midfielder Eric Miller has been called up by the U.S. U-20 Men’s National Team for the upcoming 2013 Toulon Tournament in Toulon, France, it was announced today by U.S. Soccer. Led by head coach Tab Ramos, the U.S. U-20 National Team opens play in the Toulon Tournament on Tuesday, May 28, against France at Stade Léo-Lagrange at 10:30 a.m. (Pacific).

Nor'easters Set For Riverhounds

After defeating the New York Red Bulls U23 team 2-0 last Tuesday, the Ocean City Nor’easters have been rewarded with a home game against USL PRO team the Pittsburgh Riverhounds in the second round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The game will take place at Carey Stadium on Tuesday night with a 7:30 p.m kickoff.
