CLINTON, MISSISSIPPI - After a warm welcome in its home opener at Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland, MS last Friday, Mississippi Brilla is looking forward to returning to its regular home stadium next week. Mississippi Brilla (0-0-1) is scheduled to take on the Baton Rouge Capitals (1-1) at 5:00 pm on Saturday, May 17 at Longabaugh Field on the campus of Mississippi College.
“Despite the fact that we ended with a tie rather than a win, we could not have asked for a better opening night,” said Rusty Bryant, President and General Manager. “The city of Ridgeland was a tremendous help to us, and the fans really came out to support us as well. We hope that those same 1,100 fans will follow us over to Mississippi College this week.”
At Friday’s opening match, the announced attendance of 1,127 was treated to a scoreless draw between Mississippi Brilla and the defending champions, the Laredo Heat.
“Playing at M&F Bank Stadium was a great experience for us,” said Scott Taylor, Director of Operations. “We hope that we were able to attract some new fans that will continue supporting us throughout the season. I know the team is ready to get back to our home stadium and settle into a routine.”
Saturday’s match is “CSA and CFC Meet Mississippi Brilla FC Night.” The first 500 kids in attendance will receive a free autograph book, compliments of Clinton Soccer Association and Clinton Futbol Club.
The community will be welcoming back Mississippi Brilla FC to their home stadium in full force this weekend as the combined choirs from Clinton Junior High, Sumner Hill, Clinton High School, and Attache will be singing the National Anthem. The Cheer Academy of Clinton will provide half-time entertainment, and will also give away pom-poms to the first 1,000 fans in attendance.
Tickets may be purchased throughout the week at the M&F Bank in Clinton or through the Mississippi Brilla website at www.msbrillafc.org. Tickets at the gate are $7. All children 7 and under receive free admission all season.
