MASPETH, NY --- For the second time in as many home contests the Brooklyn Knights came away with another draw. Tonight’s contest saw a sold-out crowd of academy players and youth Met Oval athletes, as the Knights tied the Westchester Flames 1-1 at the Metropolitan Oval.
The Flames got on the board early with a cross from Michael Konicoff to the foot of Josh Trott in the 7th minute of action to erase Knights netminder Chris Antonino’s shutout streak at 97 minutes. The Knights then capitalized on the Flames inability to clear the ball and connected on a corner kick as Frank Alesci found Sebastian Alvarado at the far end of the goal for his first of the season in the 10th minute.
Late in the contest the Knights once again went to their bench to add spark to the line-up with Long Island University forwards Mohammed Mashriqi and Ryan Williams coming on for the final attack and taking the last four shots for the team. The defense of Javier Gonzales, Arman Osooli, and Tomasz Groch continue to keep the Knights in the top of goals against as they team has only allowed 1.5 goals in three games this season.
The Knights out shot their opponent 16-10.
“We played well once again, we will be much better come Sunday. The early season jitters are out now and we can compete with a good New Hampshire club,” said Knights Head Coach Giuseppe Balsamo.
Up next for the Knights is a home match against the New Hampshire Phantoms on Sunday, May 17th at 5:00 PM at Aviator Sports Center in Brooklyn.
