Rage take three of four

TAMPA, FL – United Soccer Leagues announced Monday the statistical award winners for the 2009 Premier Development League season, where the Regular Season champion Reading Rage swept all offensive categories.

Garnering the Scoring and Goal Scoring Championship for most points and goals in the 2009 season was Reading striker Aaron Wheeler (right). The Dundalk, Maryland native tallied 17 goals and three assists, to finish with 37 points, en route to helping the Rage to their first ever PDL Regular Season title

Taking the Assist Leader honor was Wheeler’s Rage teammate, Jon Ports. The Reading midfielder was the only player to hit double digits in assists, recording 10. Combined with his three goals, Ports finished the Regular Season with 16 points.

Josh Pantazelos of Mississippi Brilla finished the campaign as the GAA Champion with a goals against average of 0.615 on the season, beating out Chicago’s Jimmy Maurer (0.642) and Ocean City’s Tunde Ogunbiyi (0.761). He also finished the campaign with the league lead in shutouts with eight.

Premier Development League All Conference Teams will be announced Thursday, July 30.
