LANCASTER, CA - Kansas Wesleyan won its fifth straight match and Arturo Guizar recorded his fifth straight hat-trick as the Coyotes cruised to an 8-1 win over Southwestern College on Saturday afternoon at Salina Stadium. Helping out in the rout was Lancaster Rattler forward Jose Garay, who assisted on the first and third goals of the game and added a strike of his own to make it 4-0 in the first half.

Garay played in 10 matches, over 800 minutes for the Rattlers in PDL competition this past summer. He recorded five goals and an assist. Garay is currently ranked second in scoring on Kansas Wesleyan’s squad with eight goals and 11 assists.

The Coyotes wasted no time in getting the scoring barrage started, as Derek Dodrill notched his third goal of the year in the seventh minute on a well-delivered ball from Garay.

Guizar then scored his first of the day in the tenth minute. Marlon Beach sent a ball into the penalty area from the far side of midfield that found Guizar, who juked Southwestern keeper Andrew Bonvehi and walked the ball into the goal for the score. The goal also ended Bonvehi’s day between the pipes for Southwestern as Daniel Forsyth replaced him after giving up two goals.

It took ten more minutes for the Coyotes to get on the board again as the Coyotes netted three more in a minute and eight seconds. Edgar Espinoza scored the first of his two goals on the day in the 20th minute, benefitting on the assist from Garay. On the play, Garay sent a cross into the penalty area to the left side of the six-yard box to a waiting Espinoza who did a beautiful roundhouse kick and finished just inside the left post – 22 seconds later Garay was the beneficiary of a pass from Guizar.
