Hollywood United Hitmen Press Release
July 21, 2010
Pacific Palisades, CA – The Hollywood United Hitmen are delighted to announce that they will play an international friendly against current Salvadoran champions A.D. Isidro Metapán on Sunday, July 25th at Miguel Contreras High School in downtown Los Angeles. Kickoff is 7:00pm.
The game will act as Metapán’s final warm up game before their clash with Major League Soccer’s Seattle Sounders FC in the Preliminary Round of the 2010-11 CONCACAF Champions League on July 28th.
Metapán is one of El Salvador’s most decorated professional teams, and is the current reigning Clausura champion of the Primera División de El Salvador. Metapán previously won the 2007 Clausura, 2008 Apertura and 2009 Clausura titles in El Salvador, reached the Group State of the CONCACAF Champions League in 2009-10, and features current Salvadoran internationals such as Alexander Escobar, Milton Molina, Josue Flores, Lester Blanco and Andres Flores in its roster.
The Hollywood United Hitmen, who are preparing for an important game of their own as they attempt to qualify for the 2010 USL Premier Development League post-season playoffs, have a couple of Salvadoran connections of their own: starting defender Edwin Miranda is a current Salvadoran international, while midfielder Emanuel Bentil played 33 games for Metapán in 2006-07, helping the team to the 2007 Clausura title.
