PDL Team of the Week
FC London's Luke Holmes Player of the Week

USL News Release

July 28, 2010

United Soccer Leagues announced the final 2010 PDL Team of the Week today, honoring Luke Holmes of Forest City London, as Player of the Week. Holmes powered London into the playoffs this past week on the back of two remarkable performances.

In a 4-2 win against Cleveland, Holmes netted a hat trick and added an assist. Holmes also scored two goals for Forest City earlier in the week in a 7-0 victory against Kalamazoo. Forest City is now preparing to face the Thunder Bay Chill in a Central Conference Semifinal Friday.

Preparing to meet Holmes and London on the field on Friday is PDL scoring champ Brandon Swartzendruber, who scored three goals in two matches last week as Thunder Bay took the Heartland Division title.

Matthew Stedman scored a hat trick last week as his Vermont Voltage breezed by Westchester, 5-0. Fellow midfielder William Beague of Ottawa powered his side as well, scoring twice in a 2-0 win against Westchester.

Ryan Luke scored a big goal to put an exclamation point on the Washington Crossfire’s season, putting in the game winner in a 3-2 defeat of Yakima. Justin Clark of West Virginia netted a goal and an assist in a big match against Bermuda.

There were also some standout efforts from defenders last week. Matt Rose of the Carolina Dynamo hit the game-winning free kick against as the Dynamo defeated Bermuda, 2-1. Cyprian Hedrick of the Fresno Fuego and Ivan Becerra of the Ventura County Fusion also contributed from the back. Each scored a goal and led their team to shutout wins.

Leonardo Fernandez helped set the pace for Brooklyn, contributing two assists in a 2-0 win against Westchester.

Goalkeeper Adam Mitchell of West Virginia had a standout performance against Ocean City, making seven big saves in a 2-1 win against Ocean City.
