READING, Pa. -– Reading United A.C. will host spring tryouts for their 2011 Super-20 teams and PDL team. Tryouts will be held at Exeter High School’s Don Thomas Stadium.

“We had the opportunity to see some strong technical abilities during our winter tryouts, but we fully expect to test the physical abilities and technical abilities of the players by getting them outside and playing on the same field where we play our home games,” said Reading VP & Technical Director Troy Snyder.

“We will be finalizing our roster spots after these outdoor sessions are completed. Anyone who may not have been able to attend our winter sessions really needs to attend the spring tryouts if they wish to be seen by Reading United, YSC, and Philadelphia Union staff,” Snyder added.

PLAYERS WHO ATTENDED THE DECEMBER WINTER TRYOUTS DO NOT HAVE TO REREGISTER (OR PAY) FOR THE SPRING TRYOUTS.

Reading has had tremendous talent on their teams the past few years, including four Reading alumni taken in the 2011 MLS Super Draft (Zarek Valentin, CJ Sapong, Corey Hertzog, Levi Houapeu) and three others on professional contracts or trials (GK Jeremy Vuolo in Finland First Division, MF Alex Dixon signed by Houston Dynamo, and MF Luke Mulholland on trial in Rochester). “We had great turnout at our December indoor tryouts and we are excited to see what players will attend and show us what they can do on our outdoor game field”, stated Reading President and G.M. Art Auchenbach.

YSC Academy and Reading United are two Philadelphia Union player development partners that are integral fixtures to the player development program instituted by the Philadelphia Union in 2010. Reading United A.C. finished the 2010 PDL season with a third straight Mid-Atlantic Division crown, 2nd Eastern Conference Championship title and a spot in the 2010 PDL Final Four.
