PONTIAC, Mich. -- The Michigan Bucks have announced today that they will be hosting the first round of the Great Lakes Divisional playoffs on Tuesday night at 8 p.m. With four other teams still competing for the final playoff spot, the Bucks opponent may not be known until the conclusion of the regular season on Sunday night. The Toronto Lynx, K-W United, Chicago Fire and Chicago Inferno all battle each other over the next four days to land the coveted final postseason berth.
The Bucks finished their regular season on Wednesday with a 4-2 loss at Chicago to finish with a record of 8-3-3 (27 points). Although the outstanding record is sub-par by Michigan Bucks standards, the eight wins extend the team’s lead in all time wins in PDL history, put the Bucks in the playoffs for a record 16th time in 18 seasons and keep their record intact of having a winning season for all 18 years in existence.
The winner of Tuesday’s playoff match will join FC London with a trip to Thunder Bay, Ontario for the Central Conference Championships to be played on Saturday and Sunday, July 27-28. If the Bucks win on Tuesday, they will play the opening match against top seed and hosts Thunder Bay Chill at 3 p.m. That semi-final match will be followed up by FC London and Real Colorado at 6 p.m. The two winners will play on Sunday at 6 p.m for the conference title and a trip to the PDL Championships, where they will be joined by the weekend’s other three conference winners.
Tickets for Tuesday’s game are discounted and specially priced at only $7 all ages (5 and under free) and may be the last opportunity to see the Bucks in action this year. Group tickets are available for only $5 each when purchasing a minimum of 20 tickets at one time for the group. There is no special presale for the playoff match on Tuesday. Doors will open at 7 p.m. and tickets will be on sale at that time.
