WALTHAM, MA -- The MPS Cape Cod Crusaders received a massive boost this week with the news that Graham Munro and Jason Massie will each return for the 2008 season.
Munro and Massie each played a pivotal role in the Crusaders side which claimed its third consecutive Northeast Division title in 2007. During this time, the pair helped the team stretch their undefeated home record to 26 games as the Crusaders continue to establish themselves amongst the nation’s elite in the PDL.
"We are ecstatic that Graham and Jason are back for the upcoming season," said Crusaders Head Coach Paul Baber. “Our ultimate goal is to win the clubs third National Championship and with Jason and Graham back on board, we certainly feel this is a realistic goal."
The 2007 captain and two-time All-Eastern Conference selection Graham Munro returns for his third season in Crusaders colors. The defender from Inverness, Scotland will again bring an element of experience to the team.
"Graham has been with the club over the last two PDL campaigns so he knows what it takes to reach the play-offs," said Baber. "Although he has been out of the collegiate game for two years now, Graham still maintains a hunger and desire to compete and we are delighted to have him back."
English native and Rio Grande University standout Jason Massie will again figure in the Crusaders forward line after spearheading Baber's attack in 2007. His creative flair in the
final third of the field will again be a key to the clubs success in 2008.
"Jason was probably the most technically gifted player in the squad last season," said Baber. "His ability to create time and space in tight areas of the field make him a very hard player to defend."
The Crusaders open up their 2008 campaign with a home fixture against the expansion New Hampshire Phantoms on Saturday 10th May. The game will be played at the Crusaders new home location of Mass Maritime Academy and kick-off is slated for 7pm.
