Wednesday, April 30 YAKIMA, WA – The Yakima Reds are pleased to announce that former player, turned professional player, Jacob Sagare, will be returning to play for the Yakima Reds in their 2008 Season. The Reds begin their 2008 season on Saturday, May 3, on the road against the Spokane Spiders. Yakima’s season Home Opener will be on Friday, May 9 against the Cascade Surge. Game time will be at 7:05 PM PST, with gates opening at 6:00 PM.
Sagare, a West Valley H.S. Graduate, started playing for the Reds in 1998. In high school, Jacob was selected to the Mid-Valley First team in his sophomore through senior seasons. He was also the leading scorer in the league in both his junior and senior year. On top of being the leading scorer, Jacob was also recognized as the Mid-Valley Player of the Year in his final season at West Valley.

After High School, Sagare went on to play for the University of Washington, where he was a consistent starter three out of the four years he attended the school and was on the Dean's list three times for maintaining a G.P.A. of 3.5 or higher.
During his collegiate career, Sagare played for the Reds during the summer. He was the leading scorer for the Reds in their 1999 season. During the 2000 season, Jacob led the team and the Premier Development League in assists, and was a big contributor in the Yakima Reds making the Final Four Championship Tournament in the year 2000. Jacob played for the Yakima Reds from 1998 to 2001.
After his graduation from the UW, Jacob was selected 3rd overall by the Portland Timbers in the in the 2002 A-league draft. Jake played three seasons at the club. Following the 2003 season, Jacob was scouted by a coach from England who set up a trial with League Championship club Grimsby Town.
In 2003, after another enjoyable season with the Portland Timbers, Sagare again made his way to the UK, this time playing with Halifax Town, currently in the English Nationwide Conference (Fifth Division). In Halifax, Sagare was a consistent starter and played nearly 60 matches in the year. Following the English season, Sagare once again returned to wear the green and white with the Portland Timbers. Following his three-year campaign with the Portland Timbers, Jacob spent two years (2005 and 2006) in Seattle playing for the Sounders, helping to win the USL First Division Championship in 2005.
